It's a question I get asked all the time. And the truth is, it's a difficult one to answer. But hopefully this post will give you some insight into not only the costs involved at the local dump but what it may cost to hire a rubbish removal service to come take care of it for you. Because let's be honest... Do you really want to spend your entire weekend bending over bunches of palms only to spend the rest of the week complaining about a bad back? I thought not. Plus the hassle of hiring a trailer, loading, driving to the tip and then unloading and then having to take the trailer back isn't exacly time well spent right? Not to mention the cost involved. So let's start with what the council charges here on the Sunshine Coast for green waste disposal at the dump. I've took a quick screenshot and pasted it below... So as you can see typically, the charges you are going to be paying for your green waste are as follows:
And I'll bet my right leg, your load should definitely come in under 500kg! If for any reason you do go over the 500kg mark, then you'll be billed pro rata per tonne at $57 incl. GST. But unless you have a truck load of stumps, you'll be fine. So for most residential loads, the council typically charges on the volume of green waste that you wish to dump. The larger the size, the higher the tip fee. It's that simple really. Typically most of our residential customer's hire us to remove medium loads which cost $17.50 in fees. Not bad aye? Like this monster load we recently did for a customer in Buderim. Now to be honest, this probably should have been a large load billed at $24. But due to our relationship with the workers at the tip, we managed to squeeze it through as a medium. Which ultimately meant, we managed to save our customer money. Cool right? How Much Does A Rubbish Removal Service Charge For Green Waste Removal? Now here's where things get a little tricky. Every rubbish removal service will have it's own way of pricing jobs. For us when it comes to pricing green waste removal, we typically charge on a 'Price Per Job' model. This means that every job is quoted individually based on factors such as:
If you're looking to get the best price then simply bunch up all your green waste and have it out front on the verge for an easy pickup. So remember when hiring any rubbish removal service... The easier the pickup, the better the price. And if you're looking for a really quick quote then have some photo's ready to send through to the company you're seeking a quote from. When I quote jobs I can usually gauge the amount of work involved off a handful of photo's but sometimes I'll drive out to the property if its too hard to judge. What Happens To The Green Waste?Luckily, the Sunshine Coast have a neat system of recycling all the green waste that goes to the tip. Rather than let it sit there and go to waste or bury it in landfill, the council use a gigantic mulching machine to break down the green waste into re-usable mulch. The best thing about it though? It's free! So if you're like me and have a tendency to penny pinch, then why bother buying bags of mulch at Bunnings when you can get it free at the tip? Brucey bonus or what! So it's important to remember that when dumping green waste at the tip, you must not have any contaminants in it. Things like plastic bottles, metal wire, glass or any kind of typical junk should be totally separated from the green waste. Not only will this stuff contaminate the mulch but you also risk a serious fine. Luckily at every tip I've been to, the council usually has a dumpster located somewhere near the green waste area so if you do happen to find some contaminant in your waste then you can easily throw it in the trash. Isn't It Free To Dump Green Waste Sometimes?Very occasionally you may have instances where the council will allow its local residents to dump their green waste for free. This happened very recently in March 2022 due to the severe flooding that smashed across Queensland. I have to give it to em, the Sunshine Coast council did us proud during this time. Not only did they offer residents free waste disposal but they put on extra staff at the tips to help cope with the additional volume. For us at Mango this was an incredibly busy period and we take our hats off to the tip workers who busted their arse during that stressful time. ConclusionI hope this has given you some insight into what you may be up for when dumping your green waste.

Looking to find the best rubbish removal service on the Sunshine Coast? Well take a seat and pour yourself a cold one because you're in the right spot. I've compiled this 'Bias but honest' list because when it comes to hiring out trades and service professionals, it can be an absolute nightmare right? Just recently I had two phone calls from people begging me for an on the spot service because they were recently let down by guy's who couldn't follow through on their promise. Usually not an issue for most people needing rubbish removed but if you're about to settle on the sale of your home, you need that rubbish gone! So below you're going to be seeing the best rubbish removal services ranked on factors such as:
8 best rubbish removal Services on the sunshine coast1) Mango Rubbish Removal 2) A Load Of Rubbish 3) Cheap Rubbish Removal 4) Dump It 5) Sunshine Coast Skip Bags 6) Need It Gone 7) Working Bee Rubbish Removal 8) Get Rid Of It Rubbish Removal Mango Rubbish RemovalPh: 0426873226 Web: www.mangorubbishremoval.com.au Rating: 5 stars Mango Rubbish Removal is the obvious go to on the Sunshine Coast. Why so? Firstly because as the owner I'm bloody bias as! but secondly, I'm also shockingly honest. We pride ourselves on offering a premium service that focuses on core principles such as communication, transparency and punctuality. Also, as a way of backing up our service commitment we offer a full money back guarantee if you're not happy with our service. Mango has been operating close to 2 years and has built up a well founded reputation with close to 200 5-star reviews across Google and Facebook. Not something to be sniffed at! Not only does Mango have a solid rep here on the Coast, we're trusted by local government backed organizations who depend on us for our stellar service and professional conduct. A lot of our repeat customer's say they enjoy working with us due to our smooth communication, prompt response time and speedy service. If you're in the market for a reliable and dependable rubbish removal service, you can get in contact here A Load Of RubbishPh: 0406932663 Web: www.aloadofrubbish.com.au Rating: 5 stars The well deserved 2nd spot goes to a top bloke called Andy from A Load Of Rubbish. Me and Andy quite often refer customers to each other if we're unable to service them due to scheduling issues or vehicle breakdowns. Andy has been servicing the Sunshine Coast for well over 7 years now and has a solid reputation for being honest, punctual and professional. A Load Of Rubbish also boasts a bold 5 star rating across social platforms and Andy does a great job of looking after his customers. What I also love about Andy is his efforts on social media. Just one look at his Facebook page and you can tell he is deadly serious about what he does and his reputation. (Andy's also a Pom like me so he gets a few brownie points for representing the motherland 🏴) Cheap Rubbish RemovalPh: 0424927419 Web: N/A Rating: 4.9 stars A very very close 3rd place goes to a legendary Kiwi named Rob from Cheap Rubbish Removal. This guy is always friendly and always a pleasure to work with. When my work vehicle broke down I passed a few of my loyal customers onto Rob and upon following up, my customers couldn't have been happier with his service. With almost 10 years of operating under his belt, Rob has worked hard to build a long list of regular customers and more often than not, is turning down work due to a full schedule. The only thing Cheap Rubbish Removal lacks is a strong web presence. With only a handful of reviews and no website, it can be hard for customers to gain valuable information about his business. Nevertheless, when you have a loyal list of regulars like Rob, that's no big deal. Rob can often be seen smiling at various tip locations around the Coast. Dump ItPh: 0401100134 Web: www.sunshinecoastrubbishremoval.com.au Rating: 5 Stars Coming out in position 4 on our list is Dump It. I haven't directly spoken with the owner Steve but from a quick glance across the net, he's doing a great job of servicing Sunshine Coast residents. A lot like us at Mango Rubbish Removal, Dump It boasts a massive 5 star rating on their Google listing. Also, an easy to navigate website with good descriptions on how they operate makes this business appear trustworthy in my opinion. Unlike other rubbish removal services, the great thing about Dump It is the huge Isuzu truck which although tricky to navigate through narrow streets, is great for the big jobs. With a solid reputation built over 20+ years on the Coast, these guys definitely know what they're doing and rightfully deserve to be praised... so good on ya Steve-O! Sunshinecoast Skip BagsPh: 0418493844 Web: www.sunshinecoastskipbags.com.au Rating: 5 stars After careful research I decided to give position 5 to Matt at Sunshine Coast Skip Bags. Upon close inspection, Matt seems to be doing great things for Sunny Coast locals and his reputation backs him up. Sporting a 5 star rating with a whole bunch of satisfied customers rightfully earns him position number 5. Rather than have someone manually load your rubbish onto a truck, this business offers a Skip Bag solution whereby you purchase a bag, load it on your lawn and then a truck with a crane will cart it off for you. Although the skip bag service can be a lot pricier than typical rubbish removal services, I feel Matt deserves position 5 over other mobs due to his impeccable reputation and professional website. PS. don't tell my mates but I love the shade of pink he uses on the website Need It Gone Rubbish Removal Sunshine CoastPh: 0484140619 Website: www.need-it-gone-rubbish-removal.com.au Rating: 4.7 It's getting tough to rate these local guys now but following up in position 6 is Need It Gone Rubbish Removal. Although lacking a whole lot of reviews, I'll be honest, I just love the frog logo! It reminds me when I was up in Darwin and a fluorescent green frog lived in my toilet. The little bugger wouldn't move a muscle for weeks, even on a full flush! But seriously though, this business makes up for the lack of reviews with its easy to navigate 1-page website and its huge branded trailer plus I've had a few customers tell me great things. Working Bee Rubbish RemovalPh: 0414244400 Website: www.workingbeerubbishremoval.com.au Rating: 4.7 stars The owner of Working Bee Rubbish Removal is a chap named Carl. I've had a few customers contact me who usually work with Carl and say he is a hard working bloke. The thing I love about this business is the slogan 'Give us a buzz, we won't sing ya' How cool is that right? I just love the play on words! But then again I'm a total word nerd. The only class I didn't wag at school was English. The other thing I like about this business is that their website is professional, easy to navigate and well branded. The only let down for Working Bee was the customer reviews. With only 34 reviews, I noticed a few of them were customers complaining about no-show's and lack of communication. This appears to be caused by a huge workload for the owner Carl. Nevertheless, with over 5 years of servicing the Sunshine Coast you can tell this business is well established. Get Rid Of It Rubbish Removal Ph: 0478017721 Website: N/A Rating: 5 Stars Last but by no means least is Get Rid Of It Rubbish Removal. Without much web presence, these guys seem to be doing really well. I can't really see much up to date content online but I see the driver of the truck at the Buderim tip quite a lot and he seems friendly enough. The big bonus about this lot is their big truck, it's bloody massive! so I presume they do a fair bit on construction type work. Unfortunately, there's no website other than a outdated Facebook page for this business so I can't say much more. They do have a few reviews which is great but none of them are recent enough to cast any kind of partial judgment. Conclusion As a discerning customer it can be hard to choose a local service that best suits your needs. I know this for a fact because I'm one of those customers! When deciding to hire out a rubbish removal service be sure to do a bit of snooping around. Some good questions to ask yourself are: Is the company reputable? Do they look reliable? Will they turn up on time? These are great questions to ask when hiring any trade or service professional. Especially if you've been around the block a few times. When hiring a service you should be able to rest assured knowing the people coming to your home are there with good intentions and a strong 'can do' work ethic.
